Our Comprehensive Day Program is at the core of CRCC’s services. Designed for children with special needs, this program provides for the medical needs and complements the school’s effort in the educational needs of our clients. An active approach to learning is emphasized through a well-rounded curriculum, while incorporating the children’s medical treatments into the classroom routine. Based on the Creative Curriculum Education Model (see below), staff work with children through their individualized education plans (IEP or IFSP) to achieve play, living, social, and vocational goals. By integrating typical children as peers and positive role models, we create a natural environment while developing positive, accepting attitudes toward others.
The Creative Curriculum Education Model emphasizes an active approach to learning and supports the development of trust, autonomy and initiative. This environment provides caregivers and teachers the opportunity for maximum interaction with each client. Creative Curriculum uses a series of goals and objectives based on a developmental continuum which changes to meet the needs of each individual child. With the use of adaptive equipment, theme-based curriculum ideas and a variety of interventions we are able to implement the goals and objectives to achieve the best outcome possible while having fun.
